Well-coordinated

It's quite obviously a parody/tribute to the original 'dot dot dot'. It shows.
However, like many tribute-flashes, it has a distinct drop in quality.

The Intro animation looked gimmicky and off-centred, and poorly timed, some of the transitions were compositionally awful. The voice-acting was, whilst good, noticeably sub-par to the first work. It lacks confidence, which severely impacts fluency and artistic intonation.
Plus there was a little white line on the left side of the screen the whole time - that bugged me a bit, too.

Don't get me wrong though, it's still an enjoyable, well-coordinated piece of work, with a good message that's long overdue around here - needless to say, most people won't even notice it's them that's being ridiculed. Although I believe I do notice a slightly heightened attempt at literacy in the local reviews, so perhaps there's still hope.

It's a nice vid. But I'd still forgive you if you labeled it a prototype and made an improved version.
In fact I'd commend you for your perfectionism, because I know I'd certainly not bother working on this beauty anymore after publishing if it were mine.
It isn't though, and I hope you understand what I mean.

Cheers!

Sketchy responds:

Thanks for the review :) And yeah, my internet here in Australia is ridiculously slow and I have not yet watched this video no Newgrounds, so bugs I cannot fix. But thanks for the advice mate, and next time this will be noted :)

Well, there's a surprise

I hadn't expected to have the impact to make it into the fabled thanks-to credits! A very nice surprise indeed.
On the flash, though, this was completely different to the first, in the way that it lacked some of the mystery that the first had, and gained what it didn't, which was action. Well-executed action, too. And, indeed, as promised, no noticeable spelling mistakes :3

In fact, the two flashes could in fact be seen as completely loose from each other, despite the fact that the stories follow up and the art is the same. Each has a different charm, and this is the rowdy rebel-escape gunner show rather than the arty-mystery what's-going-on-here thrillthing.
Both are great. Neither is better, since everyone has their favourites in style. (Mine would be the first, though, since I tend to have a soft spot for vids that break the norm by not killing everything).
Great work. I hope to see more. Oh, and before I forget: I noticed when the 'lights' went out, the rocks still had shadows and the sky still was a dark cyan. Was that intentional?

Good job with the reply at wiseguy7, by the way.

Gratz and support,
~Glun

CaKeS1 responds:

Thanks, I couldn't have described both parts better myself lol. And the shadowing/sky stayed the same because I just made a black square over the whole screen and alphaed it lol. So yeah it was pretty lazy. Thanks for all the input, and I'm glad you came back to watch part 2! :3

Interesting

There's more behind this story. I'm curious to see the rest.
The moments where the characters did move showed a good presence of animation, the mysterious feel it all has does intrigue, and seems to hide quite the story.
It was a bit choppy, though. And I don't mean the shaky animation. I'm well aware that that's a style, but as finderr pointed out, there's too many darkened screens going 'later', etc. It minces the experience quite some. I'm not saying you shouldn't use them at all, but some moderation would be nice.

Last and certainly least, learn the difference between 'to' and 'too'. It's not that important, but when I see those types of mistakes it makes me cringe. That's just me, though. Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything about it.

I want to see what this world looks like. I eagerly await the second.
Cheers,
~Glun

CaKeS1 responds:

Thank you for your review! And I'll make sure to get the "to" and "too" right next time ;) I'm going to use a different way to transition the animation next time, it should fix up the "later..." things all together :3

Damnit, I love this.

Saying 'Gharrr yeh beat meh' here seems unnecessary, since I already knew you would should you ever have even a half-assed go at the lazy random 'and now this happens'-ing that I call animating. I just had no idea you already had. Lovely animation, once again. I should get off my lazy arse and do some higher framerates and fuller characters myself.
Woah, does that mean you inspire me? Only time will tell, I guess.

TheBoogley responds:

I guess we'll wait and see then, eh? :)

Beautiful as usual, Boogley!

I am currently slapping myself for not having found your work earlier. Author fave!
I love the characters and their connection to the music. Excellent stuff.

TheBoogley responds:

THANKS MAN!!
I'm currently slapping myself just because it feels good

Magnificent!

Strange to like your stuff, you tell her?
I'd love to argue, though I suppose not quite being anything like what one may call 'normal' puts me out of any disposition to.
Not only do I love your style in flash, but in generality as well. That logo is amazing. Your review replies often enough seem sprinkled with pure unaltered crazy genius, and the only negative I could imagine would be 'A bit too weird for my taste', which, admittedly, it isn't.

Ah, marvellous. An instant classic. This last bit also because it's slow(ish) and thinkable like something classic.
Provided no drugs are involved, here's me wishing for your mad creativity!

TheBoogley responds:

I am drug free, footloose and fancy free. Thanks for the compliments! :D

Yay, memories!

The animation was quite impressive. Original audio use really got me remembering that episode - one of my favourites, for some reason. Though the first is still the best, in my opinion. Anyway, that's going off-track.

The animation was very nice indeed. Especially the grabbing-grimmjow's-arm bit. Like all anime, there's always a little choppiness going on, but this was plenty better than various 'professional' animes I've seen. That goes in spite of the art, though.
Now it's true that the anime style doesn't exactly allow every angle to be drawn non-weirdly, and I know that, even in bleach, the character's faces turn out really weird on occasion, but a few of the faces in here made me cringe. Dunno if you could've done any better with more effort (I certainly couldn't), but it was a slight nag.

Thus my 8 is handed over to you - that's a splendid overall right there. I do hope you keep developing your animation skills!

Salutations,

hrechkaness responds:

Yeah most of my poor drawings are probably from the start of the animation because that was when the complete learning curve with trying to use a mouse occured. I slowly got better and better at it after every drawing so I think I'm going to keep trying to use the brush here and there until i get a hand on a drawing tablet lol. I know what you mean with the angles too in anime that could have affected some of the later drawings as well. But I got a daily award and that made my efforts feel all worth while! Thanks for your review I really appreciate it.

Just goes to show...

Never say "I'd do anything" unless you know what 'anything' might include, and mean it.
Poor kid.

golfinho responds:

i maked anything for know it!

Good effort!

Reasonably well done, but sadly flawed. You but a reasonable amount of effort into this series, though it lacks a certain 'oomph'. The story is mostly concealed, and is filled with loose ends. Why didn't Mecha go all out from the start? Where'd all this 'darkness' come from? I liked the techni-talk Mecha was spouting most of the time, although Sonic's tendency to stop moving as Mecha talked seems a major, anime-esque flaw. "I'm not going to give you that chance!" in number one impressed me, but you kinda let it slip after that.

Nice animation, moderately inventive battle, and an overall well-polished look. Yet the flaws are very obvious and ruin the feeling a bit. There's no suspense, and the mecha having 'failure' running over the screen whilst misspelled just gave a kiddy impression.

All in all, there's animation talent in there, but the story and setup could use some improvement.
Don't give up, and MaikMoar(tm)!

~Glun

gamefreak20000 responds:

Huh...I did not notice I misspelled failure...oops.

Anyway, thanks for watching!

Heh.

Haven't heard that song in a while, even if it is just the intro.
"Mohnehyh!"

Is... is that Wonchop? x3

Little-Bacchus responds:

Yep that would be Wonchop (if somewhat crudely drawn) :D

Bet it will bug a few that in never gets to "Mohnehyh!" and is in no way ment to say weebl ever thought about selling out (honest)...
